Re: Game musings and news

Can I even press play on that without spoilers happening Like the original Outer Wilds trailers, this is going to show you places that exist and things that happen in those places with minimal context. If you watched the first trailers, played the game, and then wished that you hadn't watched those...

Re: Game musings and news

I could imagine Outer Wilds getting sequels or spin-offs, but I never considered the possibility of an expansion to the base game—it's such a perfect little piece of clockwork that there wouldn't seem to be room to fit anything else inside of it. Apparently, they found room. https://www.youtube.com/...

Seconding Grath here. One of Zara's most famous tweets was basically "I can't believe Hatsune Miku invented Minecraft" and this resonated with folks because of how many "wrong side of history" opinions that dude kept insisting on sharing. They're both utter losers who happen to b...

Re: TV Series On The Television

So two years later we're actually getting around to watching Letterkenny, and fuck me, we're fucking DYIN' I'm taken aback by how much we're enjoying this. The segment in which Wayne references the Florida State sports team nearly killed me. I constantly feel like I need to slow down the playback o...

Re: "Coronavirus" is the category, dangit. (COVID-19 thread)

I got my second shot and had no worries in my brain, except for a sore arm. The next day around lunch it hits hard. Temperature jumped up, aches pounded my body, and I'm very fuzzy headed. Chiming in to echo this experience. I had my second shot yesterday, and this afternoon I started having pretty...

Re: Game musings and news

Tides of Marinara is good, but once I realized how much of the story revolves around what is basically just the Blood War all over again, I couldn't maintain my interest. It just felt a little too cute that they were recapitulating so many of the character and setting choices despite the other obvio...

Re: Jimmy Buffet Presents: Animal Crossing (New Horizons Thread)

The pipes introduced with the big Mario promotion are a total game-changer. You can enter or exit them from ground level or from the next level up if they're next to a cliff; you can also put them in your house. Entering a pipe will eject you from a randomly selected pipe elsewhere on the island, so...

Re: Hot game deals

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is $29.99 US on the PlayStation store. Active-time tactics in mechs, visual novel/adventure game presentation of a sprawling and astonishing story: if I were a video editor, I'd love to construct a supercut of Twitch and YouTube players reacting to this game. Offer ends 2/25.

Re: Kickstarter

A friend from another forum is currently getting backing for Dungeon Bitches (a queer TTRPG with teeth) which is running through Valentine's Day. They have exceeded their original funding goals by a respectable margin. (If the name didn't give you enough warning, this game will include gore, nudity,...

Re: Tabletop & Board Games

Right! Since you need to anticipate every use case for your abilities in advance, character creation is a fiddly process where you just kind of hope you're not kneecapping yourself in a way that you haven't noticed yet, and then it compounds the feeling that your character is nothing more than a col...

Re: Hey [%target] Whatcha Playin'?

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim showed up thanks to a friend, and it's every bit as good as people have said. It's a complicated game, though. I think it's worth falling in blind, especially since the strong opening chapter is only undermined by a better understanding of the game structure, but I realize s...

Re: Tabletop & Board Games

My GM would be furious if he knew this conversation was happening and I hadn't recommended Champions/The HERO System, as it's designed to scale up in power real smoothly and fairly. I can't give it a recommendation without several qualifiers, though. First: if you're a huge fan of how systems like P...

Oh, that's good info! I've got a project I'm working on in my spare time that's due before the end of January, so this is gonna have to wait a bit. I really like what I've seen of Omori's art, though.

Thanks for the tip, Zara; I was curious, but I was getting ambivalent static from my usual sources for game impressions. I'd like to give it a try, time permitting.

Re: Regular-Forum Fervor! Let's Play the Sims 4!

This is an amazing start.

I thought I remembered people being really disappointed with this game, but thinking about it more, I'm getting it confused with the latest Sim City. The Sims 4 is a complete blind spot for me.
