Re: Doctor Who
Well, that's a high compliment. Kinda. Ish. Maybe just move that whole thing to some "Here's my crazy idiot idea for a great videogame if I ever got around to it but I never will" topic. I'm sure we must have one of those. That nobody reads. Maybe we'll both be less embarrassed in the morn...

Re: Doctor Who
I'm also annoyed that the premise is pretty much the same as a short RPG I was working on almost twenty years ago. Kind of a pastiche of Chrono Trigger, FFVI and Nightfall, where the inner planets are mysteriously disappearing, mostly unnoticed, until the moon cracks open releasing a weird giant dra...

Re: Doctor Who
I don't want to be entirely negative, though. I actually liked The Caretaker, though it had some character issues and the end was embarrassing. And Orient Express was a lot of fun. Personal score for the season so far: Fun but stupid Fuck off Fun but stupid FUCKING GREAT Pretty Good! Also pretty goo...

Re: Doctor Who
If anyone wants to hear why Kill the Moon is the most atrocious bit of television I've subjected myself to in years, leave your lights on. Nah. I don't actually care what you think, even if you do live in a part of the Western hemisphere that just happens to be visible from the moon for a plot-irrel...

Re: Doctor Who
In regards to Listen: I absolutely adore that it's likely that there was never really a monster of the week, other than the Doctor's apophenia. Which, of course, always comes with a whole lot of plausible deniability. Anyone who has even the smallest measure of self-awareness knows what that...

Re: Doctor Who
Despite its flaws I actually liked the first new ep a bit, but this Dalek really thing put me off. It was another weak reprisal of something that had a lot more impact the first time around, and what's new to it didn't really work. Partly because they apparently build Daleks with convenient miniatur...

Re: Fun Facts
Huh. Pretty sure The Fury was based on an actual guy.
Yeah.
US listening posts recorded the transmissions between Komarov and ground control. They reported hearing Komarov crying in rage as he hurtled to Earth, cursing the engineers and Soviet commanders who killed him.
Yeah.
Re: Science!
Winner.
Also, nuclear power is fucking awesome and fast breeders are doubleplus fuckawesome. And a way better use for U-238 than shooting it at people.
Course, now I'm just thinking about using Orion to launch nuclear waste at the sun because fuck it.

Re: War. War never changes. (Except when it does)
I've said it before, but at this point Israel is pretty much the Ur-Quan.
After our genocide and/or enslavement we've decided to genocide and/or enslave everyone to keep that from happening again.

Re: Science!
On second thought, launching it at the moon is easier than throwing it outside the solar system, but soft landings are expensive and what with it's low escape velocity a hard landing is a great way to end up with radioactive ejecta in Earth's gravity well. We could fling it into the sun, but we all ...

Portland, actually. Haven't run into him yet, though we'll have to get out for drinks here before too long. Didn't realize he was up here until about the time I arrived. I'll say hi for you.

Not true. I also threw you down holes.
Anyway, I'd be all about this, but I just moved and I'm gonna be broke for a while. I'll have to settle for hanging out with Stiv.

Re: In the Land of Wonderful Dreams
Sharkey was represented by a chalk drawing of a weird combination of Wario and Solid Snake with a huge toothy grin and blank white eyes, one noticeably bigger than the other. Inside the eyes were tiny hammers. One million quatloos for the one who makes an avatar sized animated gif of this. Pretend ...

Re: Unforgivable Sins of Game Design
Speaking of, not too long ago I figured there was no way I was ever going to finish those games so I just said fuck it and read a plot summary. I don't think I've ever gave much of a damn about the "plot" in a Castlevania game, but... haha. Wow.
