Re: The Winter Up There Must Give People Brain Freeze

The idea of Sikh being undesirable is utterly baffling to me. Have you ever met a Sikh? They're legit some of the nicest, most genuine people you'll ever meet.

Painting Sikh as undesirable is like hating soup. Or teddy bears. Or Silversong.

3. what the fuck is "extreme circumstances"? OH SHIT MY HOUSE IS ON FIRE AND A MASSIVE FLOOD IS COMING DOWN THE STREET *dives headfirst into nearest vagina" Well, think back. Were you a big gay bitch before PG&E burned down your hometown...? Makes you think, huh? (No.) if it had ...

Re: Girl Scout Fundraising Quarantine Thread

There's an arbitrary default goal of raising $400. I don't know if this is more than needed for what our troop has planned, or whether it would just cover for what I'm told is the other half of the troop who are dragging their feet on doing this stuff, or what. Having put this together yesterday aft...

Girl Scout Fundraising Quarantine Thread

My daughter's in Girl Scouts, which regularly asks me to panhandle fundraising money off of everyone I know. That means you guys! Yes, I do hate this part! So if you'd like some snacks or doggie treats or novelty coffee mugs, and you'd like to help me not pay out of pocket for the troop activities m...

Re: Fairness in Games (Poll)

It took me like 12 tries to beat Undyne the Undying, and I think 15 to beat Sans. I probably would not have bothered if it were not for my attempts to be reasonably comprehensive when doing a Let's Play. It helps that their patterns are exactly the same every time, if it was RNG bullshit I would not...

Re: Hey [%target] Whatcha Playin'?

Hot damn, son, I believe what we have here is one of those rare, rare cases where a spell is resisted by Stamina , so Sabin has slightly better natural resistance than the others. But Magic Evade also plays a part, so if you're boosting that then you're turning Sabin into a not-getting-sucked-into-t...

Re: Hey [%target] Whatcha Playin'?

I don't remember that happening to me -- I'm sure I would have brought it up! -- but ha ha yeah that do be how it is. I thiiiiiiink the Safety Bit is in either the Ancient Castle or maybe the Cultist's Tower. I found it late enough that when I ran into enemies that bullshitted instadeath I just sigh...

Re: #Tell Friday

*shuffles a deck of cards, somehow ending up with every suit grouped together and ordered 2-A* Well, glad to get that one out of the way for the universe. *shuffles again, gets the random shuffle with all the 2s together, then all the 3s, up through all the aces at the top of the deck* Well, glad to...

Re: Played Too Late: A Critical Analysis of Breath of the Wild

You know, thought I, wrapping up a dungeon that was one of three Guardians outside and either Moblins or Lizalfos inside, it's weird that a game with like a dozen monsters and three miniboss fights didn't have room for, like, Iron Knuckles. Like there are these statues hanging around the ruins and s...

Re: Played Too Late: A Critical Analysis of Breath of the Wild

I got a text that my daughter finished the thing she was doing at the nearby high school, so I got in the car to go get her. I had to wait to pull out of my parking spot because the parking space directly faces the road, and someone had stopped at the stop sign on the corner... six feet back from th...

Re: Played Too Late: A Critical Analysis of Breath of the Wild

I have dubbed this sort of thing "Emergent Frustration". And hoo boy god damn, is Breath of the Weath full of Emergent Frustration. Energetic Rhino Beetles are possibly the most skittish critter in the game. They come out at night, sit on the trunks of trees, and if they hear anything -- o...

I don't have a day job and suffer from a fatigue issue that prevents me from performing simple household tasks. I go through games fast but I would not recommend this lifestyle to anybody.

Re: Played Too Late: A Critical Analysis of Breath of the Wild

The game isn't bad , mostly, and certainly compared to some of the crap I've talked about in the Whatcha Playin thread. But I keep scratching my head and going "This was revolutionary? This was Greatest-Of-All-Time material?" I'm led to understand that Tingdom of the Kingdom fixes a lot of...

Re: Played Too Late: A Critical Analysis of Breath of the Wild

I played Breath of the Weath too late, by which I mean I played it after reading this thread of thoughtful analysis. No, hold on, I mean I'm only playing it after succumbing to the calloused grip of my own anhedonia, where my brain literally does not let me enjoy things. Probably just gonna repost t...

Re: Hey [%target] Whatcha Playin'?

T-Edition stuff I talk about it later on but there's no reason not to New Game + back to the World of Balance and use the Lethe River loop to get Celes to level 99, thus auto-adjusting everyone else to level 99 and skipping the endgame grind. If you want the endgame grind, the area around Jurassic ...
