Lately it's been really cold up here, and I've caught them taking turns snoozing on my radiator.

There is some kind of feral goblin spirit that thinks she lives with us for some reason. Will make a play for photographic evidence, but can make no promises.

is she still doing the "run to you and shake then go outside" whenever you laugh thing

Not every time, but most times, yes. (But only if I'm sitting at my computer. If I am sitting on the couch and I laugh at something, she does not react.)

We used to live next to a big park that had little ramada areas with barbecue grills. When we'd go there at night, there would be feral cats sitting on the grills, because they (1) were warm and (2) had meat stuck to them.

We still go there sometimes and walk Artie around the park. She still stops and sits when we get to the place where we used to cross the street and go home.

Dogs have good memories. We took my little Rat Terrier to my grandpas house several years after we took her the first time, she was able to autopilot the walk route we used years previously only twice without me directing her.

I have become an on-call security blanket for The World's Most Insecure Cat.

Took a nap on the couch some weeks ago and Tinkwood decided he was going to limpet me as he sometimes does. Only he's started clamping on as if for dear life. So now every time he's feeling lonely or scared in the middle of the day (so basically all the time), he expects me to come and lie down on the couch so he can desperately koala hug me.

Sometimes he comes and gets me, sometimes he just hangs around looking forlorn, hoping I will pick up the message that I NEED TO COME LIE DOWN ON THE COUCH PLEASE.

So, uh, this is my life now.

This beautiful 20+ years-old cinnamon roll passed away early this morning.

I just got to see her yesterday but didn't spend as much time, obviously as I feel like I should have now knowing this, or even in the moment. She was clearly more out of it and lackadasical than usual but I didn't realize why. My mom was keeping her in a single room while watching a dog she didn't tell anyone about and I got very angry about that. If I had more than a single room that could actually be used right now I would have taken her with me, and pretty directly stated that was my plan when my floors were finished.

She had a rough life, getting bounced between families and houses from NYC to long Island and now Ohio, but has been with us for most of it, so it'll be hard to accept her abscense for a while.

IIRC, the most unwanted type of cat in shelters are little black girls, which is just like, man, what is wrong with people. How can you not want your own familiar?

Cultural associations with bad luck?

Also, the world is not the internet. Most people don't actually like witches.

There's some unironic racism in there too, apparently.

As for the familiar thing was kind of a rhetorical question and kind a joke - the fact that that type of cat is unwanted speaks for itself.
