Kickstarter and other crowdfunding

Comic Book People, a collection of photos by Jackie Estrada, featuring that one where it looks like Alan Moore is about to fold Jack Kirby up and put him in his front pocket.

It's already passed its goal, but it's got another week to go if you want to get yourself a copy of the book ($45 minimum).

La-Mulana 2 has seven days to go and isn't funded yet. Sure it only needs like 7000 more so chances are it will be. But, man those stretch goals look far away. I guess most people who want new La-Mulana content figure they might as well pick up the original again from where they ragequit it the first time.

Apart from that, Olympia Rising is ending in 4 hours but has its goal met already; I liked the look of it, and you can play the demo in your browser. It's a floaty, fast-paced platformer with an emphasis on chaining kills, kinda reminds me of They Bleed Pixels but more-combat oriented.

Hero Forge is what I've been waiting for for miniatures since I heard about 3D printing. On demand, customized 3D miniature printing.

Uhhh, given how much Brontos seem to love old games, I actually had no idea you were joking.

Ditko's back, this time with original content.

It's already funded. $10 will get you the book; more will get you more stuff from their catalog. I intend, once again, to donate in the top bracket; I haven't been disappointed yet, and a subscription to The Comics sounds like something I'll be very happy to have. (The Comics is Snyder's newsletter, which examines comics history through the eyes of people who were actually there. It typically includes essays by Ditko, though he's just one of many attractions.)

Super Retro Squad kickstarter dev spends all his money like fools, blames everyone for sucking and puts the project on hold:

Overall I rate the breakdown at 0.7 campbells.

Despite all of this, I don’t feel like this project has gone badly or is a failure. [...] I feel like it was equivalent to getting a bachelor’s degree in game development

But I "hired" people for no money to do things they didn'tact ually know how to do? Why didn't they learn those things quickly and make my game for me?

I don't know how to feel about that, since my paycheck is at least half covered by our catering to Emirates/Etihad's shenanigans.

Just coming to post that.

They're closing in on a quarter of the way to the million-dollar goal; I've never watched a Kickstarter move like this. It's like a telethon; the numbers keep going up as I watch them.

Nice to see people still care.

Did I ever say I would never, ever pledge to a Kickstarter? Turns out I lied.
