Damn. Only 67. :(

Yeah, I'm bummed. I hadn't listened to his podcast in a couple of years but he and co-host Frank Santopadre were good interviewers, got good guests, and were knowledgeable as hell about old movies (as you'd expect from people who named their podcast after The Amazing Colossal Man) and showbiz in general.
I think the last thing I saw him in was his recent Svengoolie cameo.

Guy Lafleur, last of the Captains from the Canadiens' long and unmatched glory years.
Re: Obituaries
Neal Adams dead at 80.
I probably need to write two articles about him — one about what he put onto pages of comic books and how his unique skills revolutionized comics, changing minds everywhere about how they had to be drawn. A lot of people began drawing like him (or trying to) but one of his main achievements was convincing editors and publishers that comics didn't all have to look like what others had done before. Everyone after him who cultivated a unique, individual approach was more welcome in the field because of Neal.
And I need to write about what he did as a crusader, a champion of creators' rights not only in a legal but in a moral sense, as well. I have a dozen stories most people don't know about in which Neal, behind the scenes, saved some colleague's career or prevented the ruination of his or her work.
Re: Obituaries
Absolutely one of the most important advocates for creators' rights in the history of American comics. He fought for Siegel and Shuster to get credit and compensation for Superman when the first movie came out in '78, and he was one of the guys who convinced DC and Marvel to adopt the policy of returning original art to the artists.
The comics industry is still shity and exploitative, but it's less shitty and exploitative than it used to be, and Adams had a major impact in making it better.

Re: Obituaries
Sad to hear -- and so soon after Adams -- but we knew it was coming. It's some relief, at least, that he had time to say goodbye and to get his affairs in order, and for his fans and peers to tell him just how much he meant to them.

Vangelis
Wasn't just Chariots of Fire; he scored plenty of movies - including a good chunk of Blade Runner, IIRC.
