Re: Obituaries
You see, it only takes 40 years or so for justice to catch up with the wealthy and powerful, provided they overstep the gentlemen's agreement and prey on too many their peers. The system works.
Follow-up on the Aussie comic above, he immediately played the British tabloids by emailing them details of his show while posing as an outraged patriot, then used the story about that to get in a few more digs about their silent defense of Andrew. Legendary.

Walter Mondale.

First to pick a female VP running mate, Geraldine Ferraro, in 84. Nice.
Of course, they were exploded by the unstoppable power of Reagan and his unique combination of folksy charm and being absolutely despicable.
edit: First major party candidate.

Michael Collins, the other astronaut on Apollo 11.
Re: Obituaries
He really was the person I want to be like the most: The man who was further away from any other human being in recorded history, and found it peaceful.

According to the HBO mini-series From the Earth to the Moon, Michael Collins made the following suggestion as to what Armstrong should say upon stepping onto the lunar surface: "If you had any balls, you'd say 'Oh, my God, what is that thing?' then scream and cut your mic."

Took me hours to find this since I couldn't remember where I'd seen the quote. Thought I was going batty not seeing it posted interviews or the wiki for either man, when it turned out to have been right on Collins' own Twitter all along (I DUM).

Revisiting this. Said friend just showed me the letter of recommendation Dan Kaminsky wrote for their Visa application. It reads like a proud father bragging about their favorite kid. I'd really had no real comprehension of the magnitude of the loss until now.
