Obituaries
Re: Obituaries
Missed the news last week that Dusty Hill of ZZ Top had passed.

How fleeting are all human passions compared with the massive continuity of ducks.

Goddamn.
At their peak WKUK was easily the top online (live-action) sketch comedy and 41 is too damn young. :(

Re: Obituaries
Virtually everything I know about Sean Lock comes from a posthumous sharing of the Carrot Game video, but I'll grant that it was masterfully done

Re: Obituaries
I also really only knew Sean Lock from 8 out of 10 Cats and other quiz game appearances. But he came across as a sweet guy, and was the only funny prop comedian.
Fuck cancer.

Re: Obituaries
One of the funnier aspects about the best Rolling Stones stories is that so many of them involve someone punching Mick.
Re: Obituaries
Ed Asner at 91. Hell of a run, and working right up to the end.
It was nice to see him reprise the role of Cosgrove on Teen Titans Go last year, and apparently his last role will be Dug Days, a Disney+ series spinning off from Up.

Re: Obituaries
MacDonald's quote about how good comics try to make the audience laugh and bad comics try to make the audience clap is something I think about more or less every time I see one of my normie friends on FB post screenshots of political tweets
Re: Obituaries
Ugh. Well, that sucks. Sorry to hear it but can't say as it comes as a shock either at this point.

I guess building monuments to the dead can be just as hazardous as building ones to the living.

Re: Obituaries
It only we had a his entire lifetime of him personally telling us stories about him doing that stuff. Norm Macdonald was an excellent antihumor comedian. Unfortunately what he considered actual humor was all miserable.

Clive Sinclair, eccentric inventor uncle to probably the majority of UK gen-x nerds.

Which reminds me - I discovered Dave Bulmer through the joyfully terrible IDLM Garfield podcast, this video essay is a great reminder of the wyrd punk techno magic of those ancient days. Sir Clive opened that portal for us and the debt of gratitude doesn't fit into words.
