I wish more people understood that much of North Africa and the Middle East used to look like the northern Mediterranean.

Problem solved then, we'll just buy 2 billion cases of PureLife and dump them all back into the reservoirs.

At the second World Water Forum, Nestlé and other corporations persuaded the World Water Council to change its statement so as to reduce access to drinking water from a “right” to a “need.” Nestlé chairman and former CEO Peter Brabeck-Letmathe stated that “access to water should not be a public right.”

Saying that Tank Girl had a plot is being pretty damn generous.

The amount of water released is enough to supply about four households for an entire year.

Half a million gallons sounds like a lot but it's not that big a loss for public health purposes.

So I guess this is now mostly just the "California is on fire" thread, which is fine. For those of us who live in Cali (Brent, Romo, Me, Esper, whoever else I can't remember right now) this is not any new information.

But for the rest of you, you might find it mildly interesting, so here goes.

So, California is on fire! But now, it's on Mega Fire (Yes, that's actually what they're calling it.) This is due to a few factors.

1. Climate Change

2. Let's suppress natural forest fires because people live there/just for no reason

This leads to

A. Hotter/dryer summers (see 1)

B. A fuckload of undergrowth (see 2)

Which in turn leads to

Z: MEGA FIRES

So, what are Mega Fires, you ask?

Well Timmy, they're basically exactly what they say! Just really fucking huge fires! Imagine a fire, but, like, its got an angry face and it keeps saying it'll fuck your mom and it's camping you at spawn why won't they nerf Tracer this is bullshit I can't even get back to my team can someone come to spawn and escort me

These fires blot out the sun for weeks and rain ash down on everything! And that's if you're lucky and not actually in the area directly threatened by the fire itself!

But Friday, you ask, what about that thing with the broken dam? Wasn't that shit caused by too much rain?!

YES.

We are getting fucked on both ends! Climate change causes more extreme weather in both directions, so we get too much rain all at once, which causes both flooding and explosive vegetation growth, which in turn fuels the fires in the upcoming dry as fuck summer!

The Mega Fires are only going to get worse as time goes on and temperatures rise. And Tracer is a stupid bitch.

Oh shit. My aussie friends have told me about the exploding eucalyptus trees. Didn't know they were all over California too!

Alright, I'm gonna talk a little about the difference between Norcal and Socal.

Specifically, the State of Jefferson.

Now, my sister Lyrai can join me in this stupid meme because she lives in it too.

"The State of Jefferson" is a proposed stupid very bad idea that you see on billboards and homemade signs along I5 in Norcal and Southern Oregon. Basically, some of the (stupid) people who live in those areas want to make a 51st state out of those two areas.

Now, it's true that Southern Oregon and Northern California are similar. They're both very rural, they're both very red on polling maps, and they both have no fucking economy. If the State of Jefferson actually existed, it'd be the poorest state in the union. But the idea is the bay area and Socal votes and has values very different from Norcal, and the (stupid) people who live here and in Southern Oregon want better representation of their values.

Now, nobody takes this seriously because:

1. It's a really bad idea
2. Nobody is actually aware that Norcal exists as a distinct entity from the rest of California, seriously, whenever anyone asks where I'm from and I say "California", they assume I mean LA, even other people from Norcal
3. If you divided the population of California between everything North of Sacramento and everything South of Sacramento, the total number of people living north of Sac would be about 7 or 8, so they don't have the votes

I live in District 1. Our Congressman is a piece of shit by the name of LaMalfa. District 1 is the largest District in California except for 8, which is the gigantic empty desert one in east central Cali. LaMalfa is so hated that he doesn't do Town Hall meetings anymore, because all anyone does is boo him off the stage. Despite being absolutely despised in every population center we have in District 1, (all, like, four of them) he's not even remotely threatened by his challenger, because District 1 is 30% Dem and 41% Republican. It's depressing because when I drive around Chico, my hometown, I see tons and tons of Aubrey Denney signs and hardly any for LaMalfa, so it makes me feel hopeful. But then I remember how all the ranchers will just continue to vote for LaMalfa so he can keep lining his pockets and owning the libs and voting lockstep with Trump (seriously, he has a 100% record) and it makes me really sad because if there was any year that we could finally get rid of him it'd be this year, god fucking damn it.

THIS CONCLUDES FRIDAY'S LONG WINDED RANT ABOUT HOW NORCAL (and SoOregon) IS RED AND THATS WHY ITS DIFFERENT
