Capitol riot suspect Pauline Bauer, who had a quite an outburst last time she appeared in court, is now back.
The judge noted she's representing herself--which she denied.
"I am not pro se," Bauer said, "I am here in a divine special appearance."

I hope that one day people will understand exactly what we did to our brains in this era and look back on it as we do at leaded wine jugs and licking radioactive paintbrushes.

Re: GOP Will Shit Itself
Pauline Bauer's age is unknown but statistically she's probably old enough to have grown up around leaded paint and radioactive wine.

Rudy's law license has been suspended, for spreading deliberate falsehoods.
From what I've read, this just isn't done; he must have really pissed off the judges for them to go there.

1:55 PM <hngkong> Holy shit, Obama broke his brain. I mean, more than it was.
1:57 PM <Brentai> That does mean Obama is responsible.
1:58 PM <Brentai> Well, partly.
1:58 PM <Yoji> not gonna lie, that's kind of an impressive chart
2:01 PM <Friday> yeah in the comments it was postulated by someone that's it's entirely possible that if Obama had never made fun of Trump, Trump would have never been elected.
2:01 PM <Friday> I can't... really disagree. It's possible. Not that I'm actually blaming Obama, of course. But I'm a big believer in cause and effect.
2:02 PM <Friday> Not that I'm claiming it was an effect. But it's very possible it was.
2:02 PM <Friday> Let this be a lesson to you all: never wound an enemy.
2:02 PM <hngkong> Always kill them, and their families.
2:02 PM <hngkong> Got it.
2:03 PM <Yoji> I really don't want to believe that. I'm not sure how I could handle something like that being true
2:03 PM <Friday> Petty revenge is notoriously commonplace in history.
2:04 PM <Friday> Tons and tons of historical geopolitical wars/policies were about two rulers who hated each other over like, a dinner they had once.
2:04 PM <Yoji> like part of my brain is trying to rationalize that if it weren't Trump, some other creep would've done the same
2:04 PM <Friday> Yes.
2:04 PM <Friday> That's valid.
2:04 PM <Friday> Remember that Trump is a symptom. Also a cause, but a symptom mostly.
2:04 PM <Friday> He's the result of the GOP being the way it be.
2:04 PM <Friday> He also became a cause.
2:05 PM <Friday> Sort of like a fever, you know. The fever itself can cause problems.
2:05 PM <Brentai> I just hate being reminded how much evil in this world is based on sheer pettiness.
2:05 PM <Yoji> On the other hand, I think about the phrase "failure of imagination" a fair bit these days
2:06 PM <Brentai> I liked it better when we all were allowed to believe it was self-interested greed.
2:06 PM <Yoji> which probably explains why the name "Larry Elder" makes me feel like my intestine is trying to strangle itself
2:06 PM <Brentai> That's rational! Smart people do that!
2:07 PM <Brentai> Nobody likes to think that a sufficiently rich baby throwing a tantrum can actually kill them and their family.

Just like the good old days!
I actually thought it was already accepted wisdom that Trump's main aim was petty revenge? I mean seriously, if that shit's been normal ever since we had any sort of aristocracy at all, there's no reason to believe it's ever not been the case, whether it's Rameses II, Caligula, the Hapsburgs, Euro-colonial Empires, or anything in between.
The mid-20th century was basically a brief anomaly where the entire world finally went in heavy on socialism (which IMO is actually just a de-warping of society, not some kind of shift to one side of a political spectrum), which simply meant that it was difficult for a big baby to become sufficiently rich.
Then we let them up off the mat. Never wound an enemy indeed.

Incidentally, imagine being the guy hired to do that. Like, not so much the actual experience, but getting the brief.

That's like blaming Jeri Ryan for Obama's presidency.
Re: GOP Will Shit Itself
With the exception of the word "blaming", correct.

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick has paid his first voter fraud bounty. It went to an unexpected recipient
Nearly a year after offering up a hefty bounty for evidence of voter fraud in the wake of Donald Trump’s loss, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick has handed out his first reward.
But instead of going to an informant who smoked out fraud by Democrats, Patrick’s five-figure payout went to a progressive poll worker in Pennsylvania whose tip led to a single conviction of illegal voting by a registered Republican.
The unexpected outcome reveals the political dangers of cash bounties. With few strings attached, and more cases of alleged GOP voting fraud still in Pennsylvania courts, Patrick may be asked to shell out even more cash to his opponents.

She doubly annoys and angers me because when my friends talk about her they refer to her as "MTG" and then say things like "Did you hear what MTG did?" and my mind goes directly to "have they finally printed a card that will make 8 rack, my favorite deck, relevant in Modern again" and then it's just more Marjorie bullshit.

And then Clarence Thomas said he agreed with this?! I mean, we know Thomas is a shithead and a house... mouse. But even so!
As one comment said "I'm still pretty sure that Thomas wouldn't actually vote to annul his own marriage... but I'm less sure about that than I was five minutes ago".
