Your worst, basest assumptions are broadly correct.
I just now learned exactly how stuck this beast is. Only the left side of the canal is actually dredged, the other half of the channel is just for tugs and other small support craft. This is the freighter equivalent of jumping the kerb so hard your car ends up wedged on someone's roof.

Also doesn't come up much that this is how the ship got the front wedged to start that side drift:
and this is what the front looks like when it's not embedded in the bankside:
Or as I've been saying after hearing it described that way "Evergreen is knotting the Suez and it can't pull out".

Oh crap, I completely forgot about that feature. That's a bulbous bow, which is typically used to improve the flow for more efficient sailing. And take a look at how high the waterline is compared to the red part to give you a better idea of how deep it goes.
Yeah, everyone go around. The Suez Canal basically doesn't exist for a good while.

Yeah the bow being stuck in is why the tugs can only really apply counter-clockwise force to the rear left PORT STERN of the ship, with maybe some cable pulling the starbord, but like, there's only so much lateral force they can apply that way without shearing the ship in half if the bow section is too stuck in the shallows.
At first I was surprised they hadn't given up and started offloading cargo yet, but that would probably also take a very heavy ship and while other ships are giving up and going around the Cape, Suez's is still backed up with 150 ships which were at the front of the line or in the canal itself, so you'd have to get them all to back out on one side to even get another big ship in there. At this point heavy-lift military helicopters might actually be a better option if they decide to offload it. What an absolute nightmare (well, logistically).

The less funny answer to that is that a whole bunch of people are asking the same question, and the answer so far is that so many variables and interconnected knock-on effects are involved that we'll probably never know, even if a team of savant economic whiz-kids were to try to spend their entire collective careers attempting to calculate the number.
This has not of course prevented randoms on the internet from coming up with absolutely definitive numbers, of course.

Somewhere, a certain Captain Hazelwood is feeling a lot better about himself.

Especially because the Valdez being his fault was propaganda by Exxon to divert blame away from their criminally negligent equipment and repair practices.
fun fact
in 1994, one of the targets the Unabomber assassinated was Thomas J. Mosser, an ad exec who the Unabomber hated for assisting Exxon in cleaning up their public image
