SAITAMA – A man was arrested Wednesday near Tokyo for allegedly forging and sending out dozens of special popsicle sticks to an ice cream manufacturer so they could be redeemed for popular Pokemon cards by the company.

That's basically every dream I have where I'm driving only the accident never actually occurs, it's just looming and I'm terrified forever
seeing it actually happen in real life was weirdly cathartic

Huh, in my dreams I just go fuckin' careening into the void.
Re: Bogus, batshit, banal, bizarre, or bicubic: Assorted News
Before I got my driver's license, I would have nightmares all the time where I was either driver or passenger in a car that went careening into the void.
Now I just get dreams where the light changes to red and, you know, I really could have sworn that pressing the brake pedal down used to do something.

How fleeting are all human passions compared with the massive continuity of ducks.

Vehicles being unable to change velocity is one of my most reliable dreamsigns. I think it's because our brains aren't equipped to simulate the feel of those forces.

This is a thing of absolute beauty.

If you're smart enough to avoid twitch and twitter, metallica had rpg elevator music overlaid on their live concert on twitch. It was a dmca flag because of mettalica having to rip what they had sewn or something I think.
edit: the original tweet showing the transition between both songs was gone and I'm seeing people are worrying now about a dmca on twitter for sharing it, because the patriots took over, made a 1960s-tech ai, put it in charge, and all died in the real world, too.

METALLICA! METALLICA BAD! TWITCH GOOOOOD!

I don't think anyone would go so far as to say "Twitch good", but Metallica performance turning into RPG Elevator Music because of the DMCA is hilarious karma for Metallica in particular. Even Lars Ulrich knows it's wrong.

Really, there are no "good" parties there. It's just that because whatever passes for my brain is completely fossilized, to this day "METALLICA BAD!" is the first thing I think of when anyone mentions them.
EDIT: Video is 1) INCREDIBLY ancient 2) probably offensive and 3) definitely annoying as fuck, but I'm not actually going to rewatch the whole series to find out.

Answering an INCREDIBLY ancient 20-year-old meme with a moderately ancient 15-year-old meme, nicely done

"I'd rather be tied up in the desert than generate one more cent of shareholder value."
Re: Bogus, batshit, banal, bizarre, or bicubic: Assorted News
I can't read the article because NYT paywall, but I'm really curious why "treasure hidden in the desert" was added in there if the goal was just to get out of work for a month.
Which, I mean.

Fry's Electronics is done.
The surprising part is that it took this long. Last time I was in one, it was picked clean; I was trying to buy a graphics card, saw on the website they only had one in stock, figured that must be a mistake, so I went over there to look in person and found that nope, no mistake, they had one graphics card in stock.
I said then that I'd be surprised if they were still open in six months. That was October 2019.
