Hilarious! I'm guessing if his Tesla stock doesn't pull out of free-fall he won't do it. He's a bit of a dumbass, but even he'll know not to risk his biggest money pile.

I mean this all assumes he was going to really do it in the first place.

Most of Tesla's profits came from their "liquid" assets being held in Bitcoin, all the profits of which have now been wiped out by Bitcoin's price crashing.

Re: The Continuing (Mis)adventures of Car Notch
Honestly, it's a bit of a shocker that anything was even built at all.

I remember when it was a vacuum tunnel that the can-like car rushed down like those old pneumatic tubes.

Headline: "Elon Musk says Twitter legal team told him he violated an NDA"
ELON? NEVER!

I find it unlikely that even Musk would set fire to a billion dollars just for the lulz.
I suspect he either intended to go through with the purchase at the time, or figured he could find some way to wriggle his way out of the due diligence waiver and billion-dollar penalty because, y'know, he's never had to face consequences for anything and believes this is because he's a super-genius.
I'm not going to ascribe any plan to him beyond impulsive instant gratification. The Twitter board, on the other hand...
Re: The Continuing (Mis)adventures of Car Notch
I figured he wouldn't go through with it because nobody who likes having money would buy Twitter. And I think he's dumb enough to lose a billion on the whole escapade because I don't think he thought that hard about the actual goings on at Twitter until now and his impulsive decisions have gotten worse since his millenial girlfriend left him

That's the thing - he didn't set fire to a billion dollars for the lulz, he set fire to it because reading the fine print is what lawyers are for.
Small text is for small people, right?

Oh, I think he's dumb enough that he's probably going to lose a lot more than a billion before all this is over.

Yes but then he didn't listen to his lawyers.
Re: The Continuing (Mis)adventures of Car Notch
He's 100% in some kind of spiral. The whole weird "I'm Republican now because unions" and planting the seeds of "attacks against me are super gonna pile up" ahead of what I suspect will be some kind SEC investigation or something.

Well, exactly.
It's not like he has a great track record of listening to his lawyers the fine print people.

Like Muskie is practically the platonic ideal of "I'm the idea guy!"

Good guess, but I'm afraid the correct answer is sexual harassment.
