Nice. We keep looking for our postal code to open up. Should be very soon.

I got my appointment... for May 23rd. Good thing I turned 40 two months ago, I suppose.

CDC says fully vaccinated people don't have to wear masks indoors
And here's the link to the official CDC guidelines once again.
I'm still gonna wear a mask anywhere where there might be unvaccinated people around.
Caveats: The guidance does not apply to those traveling on planes or public transit, health care settings, correctional facilities or homeless shelters.
Masks should still be worn to abide by federal, state, local, tribal or territorial guidance, including local businesses and workplaces, the CDC said.

I'm going to wear a mask from this point out, that way people don't run screaming from simply looking at my face anymore.

The memes are rolling in

I mean, that first DnD meme was the peak. It's all downhill now.

No matter what anyone's opinion of China is, how is this data even remotely plausible?
EDIT: So the tweet is partially wrong. The good news is that Sinopharm, though a large share, was not the majority of vaccines issued to residents of the Seychelles. The bad news is that the majority-issue vaccine was... Astra-Zenica.
My guess is that the overall story here isn't going to turn out to be about inefficacious vaccines, but new dangerous variants which some current vaccines will offer little protection against.

I get hay fever and will thus be wearing masks until cold dead hands etc. Also I'm pretty sure being vaccinated doesn't make me 100% not a potential carrier. Herd-safe vaccination coverage is usually up around 95% plus, right?
Also that shit right there.
Annnd it's a handy little flag of "Hi I'm not Qanon".

Went to the grocery store earlier and only saw masks on half of the shoppers there. One or two older men looked like they were angling to fight with anyone that dared to confront them, and one maskless lady was getting food at the salad bar while coughing. This is never going to end.

The CDC could not have sent a bigger stick of dynamite into public health. The anti maskers and cultists LOVE to fight in public about being barred from businesses bc of mask requirements. It's free publicity and afterwards they are lavished with praise and admiration from other cultists. Now they have a major government agency's permission to not only go about maskless, and pick fights with you/challenge you every time you say wear a mask, but sue you if you try to enforce a mask policy pending proof of vaccination.
And the whole world is listening. There's hardly a country in the world where the CDC is not at least on the radar as a reliable source of policy. So if your country (cough Canada cough) is still masking and a few vaccines have trickled in, say goodbye to stabilization.

Placeholder for something witty that doesn't make me sound like an asshole

That's...not really an accurate read of the law or the CDC guidelines (which say that it's okay not to wear a mask indoors if you're vaccinated, and which also explicitly say you should defer to guidelines set by businesses).
People file frivolous suits with no basis in the law all the time, so I certainly can't rule out the possibility that people are going to sue businesses based on CDC guidelines they haven't actually read. But I think it's a pretty big stretch to say the CDC just gave people permission to sue businesses for mask policies.
That said, I'm not entirely sure the CDC made the right call here; I'll agree that it feels premature and doesn't necessarily make the right assumptions about how people will react.
I'm fully vaccinated, and I'm not about to stop wearing a mask, indoors or out, if I can't know if the people around me are vaccinated too.
(I did go out for my first meal at a restaurant the other night. We sat outdoors, in the back, a good 30 feet from any other occupied tables.)

I've seen headlines that this is an entirely political concession by the CDC and the actual epidemiologists there are pretty well set against it.

well from the start of the pandemic the advice from any epidemiologist worth their exponential growth curves was that all americans should be in giant, body-covering condoms for the next couple of years

yeah but what did they think we should do about the coronavirus
why are you all looking at me like that

because you beat me to the joke I was gonna make
Re: "Coronavirus" is the category, dangit. (COVID-19 thread)
is this a safe space for me to say I welcome the idea of walking around outside without a mask and have happily done so since the CDC recommendation, because I am vaccinated and everyone I care about has been vaccinated and frankly I don't really give a shit what happens to this theoretical person who has not been vaccinated but lies about it any more than I would during a normal flu season
I admit this not to gloat or to be contrarian, but to ask you why I should
