Wait, we die of old age?? What the hell kind of game is this?

I'm fine with retiring, I guess. I've always wanted more time for my hobbies. Or maybe you could get me a side job in a coffee shop, where I can learn to draw little flowers in the latte foam.

Immortality is possible through a combination of fishing, gardening, and cooking, but nobody took up those first two. The grim spectre of death hovers above you all.

(Besides, the LP's gotta end sometime.)

There's a dish called Ambrosia. Eating it resets the eater's age to the beginning of the age category they're in (so in the case of this LP right now, back to the day after the birthday they changed into an adult). There's no limit to the number of Ambrosias a Sim can eat.

But the ingredients are Life Fruit and Deathfish, two items that can't be purchased -- you have to grow the fruit and catch the fish.

There are other avenues to immortality if you want to give EA all of the money, this is just the way to do it in base game. Also, Life Fruit plants produce only a single Life Fruit per harvest (with a chance of producing a second one if you have the superior magics of a Green Thumb). So it's even more daunting of a task than it first sounds.

Assuming R^2 would have allowed it, achieving this goal would have taken rank 10 in fishing, gardening, and cooking. I also think there's something like... 10 prerequisite opportunity quests that need to be undertaken before you can make it happen (which includes the ability to unlock Steak and Tofu plant growing).

I thought I would keep on living forever as an animated husk preserved by a steady mixture of booze and cocaine. The brochure lied to me!

Life plants seem to bear as much fruit as any other. It's death flower shrubs that give one item, then die. It's quite possible to have a garden full of life plants without too much effort, which is good since they make fantastic fertilizers for everything, including othe Life plants.

Deathfish need only Fishing 5 to catch, Life plants Gardening 7 to grow. The recipe costs $12000 and takes Cooking ten to learn, though.

Edit: No Opportunities need be completed to grow Life plants, you've just gotta find the seed somewhere.

HUH!
That would explain why I never got the Life Plant gardening opportunity. :-(

Man if I had planned ahead and chosen gardening and fishing instead Beat would be the real evil genius. Instead he makes a desperate attempt to make it happen before he dies. With fast learner, couch potato and someone constantly zapping him with the moodlet manager he can read his way up the skill tree, it's all just a matter of finding the life seed. Silver, if you buy the collector helper you can live too!

So I'm cruising along, playing the next leg of the game. Go to save the game, and bam, Error 16. Not unusual while saving, except the aforepictured message popped up right after.

That fucked up the save game. But I have a backup!

One that, upon further investigation, crashes the game as spectacularly as the issues that had me patch up to 1.6 in the first place. I've spent a few days trying to fix it, to no avail -- the only way to keep going would be to roll back two weeks of game time, and that's so significant it's more than I'd want to do.

So that's game. I'm wrapping the LP. Tyrant Team wins on assets, Bronto Team wins on Skill Challenges, and LAPs are so close I'm going to call that category -- and thus the LP as a whole -- a draw.

Sorry, guys.

They had a plan to live forever, but the universe had other plans for our heroes...

About the draw, we mean. The end of the world was totally fine.

No, see, this was all our plan. If the game never ends, our characters never die. We win, forever.

Everyone, I've let you down.

The direction I got for building Brontohouse was just a vague "Something gothic", so I built a castle at the top of a cliff. It had, in one incarnation, an entrance hallway with wall sconces and red curtains over floor-to-ceiling windows. Towers, parapets, good stuff.

I realized, far, far too late, that the castle was missing a vital component.

It should have been inverted, floating above the ground.

I'm sorry, everyone.
