I don't think we're all using the same metrics to determine the quality of a game and there are lots of games that I love really strongly for setpieces that amount to the tiniest fraction of the game. But in this kind of contest, having the highlights of your game easily sharable via youTube is an advantage second only to a large share of players in the voter base.

Like, I don't know how to explain how delightfully weird Legend of Mana is, or how it invites you to explore its world and systems and how it manages your expectations for what you can do within it.

I am incredibly adequate at linking youTube videos however!

Of all four of these, Klonoa simultaneously represents its era while still being the most fun to actually go back and play. Einhander comes very close, as it's eminently playable now, but the PSX era was definitely more an era for 2.5D platformers than it was shmups. I love both RE2 and SH, but they're best enjoyed through remembering them than actually playing them.

Fun fact: Resident Evil 2 and Puzzle Fighter 2 are the only games left in the loser's poll that have been there since the start. (They were moved to loser's from the Ro64).
