Re: Elon Musk's Ipod Submarine
maybe at least the voting could be public? Elon would simply make a fake vote while sending their guess to the judge.

I had the same thought, but Beat's got that covered:
beatbandito wrote:OR, optionally, since this version doesn't require the host to stay in the dark and all replies wont be instant, have EVERYONE PM the host, then the host sends those solutions to elon first, gets his solution and posts them all at once.
That way order doesn't matter, and Musk gets the benefit of all the real answers. Might end up with Musk being OP, but that can be rebalanced if it comes to it.

nosimpleway wrote:Sure, but posting publicly means if Elon goes first he's boned, if Elon goes before about fourth he's probably boned, and if the mod picks turn order with that in mind it eliminates half of the potential Musky candidates.
Remember, he's only boned in the sense of concealing himself. Muskie always has first crack at winning.
If you guys really want to try and have it all by PM, I don't mind giving it a go. No harm in trying different things.
In that case though, ONE idea might be for all the answers to go by PM and then for the Round mod to send half the solutions, randomly-selected (minimum 3), to Muskie before Muskie proposes a solution of their own. That way the Muskie player has some chance to blend in, using is a compromise between showing them all the answers or none of the answers.

Votes being resolved simultaneously is pretty crucial, I think.

One person is too busy enjoying their Saturday outside like a normal person to vote.

Alright nerds, here's the breakdown:
Friday accused Silversong
Zaratustra accused Silversong
Lottel accused Silversong
Grath accused Silversong
Atog accused Silversong
Mharr accused Grath
Romosome accused Grath
Mongrel accused Mharr
Silversong accused Mharr
No Simple Way thought that Corporations Patent DNA and Designer Genomes (paraphrased). So just like arguing with him in real life, nothing mattered but ultimately Elon wins anyway.
I guess people can vote for their favorite and I'll decide when the next round is starting?

Updated Leaderboard. 2 points for R^2!
Not sure who I think had the best or "best" solution, but I really want to know how on earth USB Crispers were meant to address companies purchasing DNA!

Honestly I just wanted to post NANOMACHINES SON as an answer but ultimately resisted the urge.

Wait I probably should have mentioned that the actual six words was "Big Pharma Buying People's DNA"
So while it was close, I would call this as just be one point for no one guessing NSW.
Corporate-made DNA is fine sometimes, but nothing beats mom's own homemade.

Fair enough. I figured "Elon wins" meant you ruled it an unambiguous win.
Who's the bonus point? I'll update the leaderboard.

Re: Elon Musk's Ipod Submarine
I have bad taste and even though I can't find it through googling I thought "patent mine" was a term for companies that pump out a lot of patents in the hope that one gets used by someones or something.
So, real or not, I'm going for Grath's pun.
edit: also /in

Also, I guess we can assume Romo's /in unless he says otherwise.
R^2, you gonna play mod this round?

Re: Elon Musk's Ipod Submarine
Thought the shoddy spelling would confuse Elon more than everyone else. I love how everyone's having at least as much fun redesigning the game as playing it. Nerds! /in

Sitting this one out. Sometimes spectating is more rewarding ("I like to watch.")

Yeah, I'll mod this round.
When you /in, go ahead and mention whether you want the style we've been doing or all through PM, and I'll go with the majority vote.

Re: Elon Musk's Ipod Submarine
/in, and I'm good either way.
edit:
I think that's generally more "patent troll". I was aiming for subtle: "patent my DNA" being a decent enough fuck-you-got-mine silicon valley techbro solution while also not tipping off Elon that the problem involved DNA.

Re: Elon Musk's Ipod Submarine
I got the primary reason. For some reason when I hear "Patent Mine" I think of Edison slapping his name and a patent on all the work done by anyone near him more than the current patent trolls, but I still admit this is probably weirdly crossed wires making false memories.
