I'm sure he would take that as proof that he was right, too. Because uhh... not wearing a seatbelt... totally makes you go faster?

Now that I'm thinking about it literally the only benefit to refusing to wear one is that you don't get chafed so much.

It's a grim irony that nothing makes you a burden like pretending rugged individualism.

I liked Jeremy Clarkson's old take on this though, that if we removed all the safety gear and installed a brobdingnagian rusty spike in the middle of every steering wheel, maybe people would treat driving like it's actually dangerous.
