Weird Al
Re: Weird Al
Dang, no Montréal show. I'm not surprised, but it would have been nice.
I'm not quite 100% clear on the kind of math that says it's more profitable to do a show in Saskatoon though.

Re: Weird Al
Saskatoon just has a funnier name is all.
Re: Weird Al
Then why isn't he doing a show in Flin Flon?
Re: Weird Al
I'm torn between the first show (because it's the least likely to be canceled due to one of them getting Covid mid-tour) or the last one (because getting to watch Weird Al desecrate Carnegie Hall.)
Re: Weird Al
The Vanity Tour fucking ruled and you should 100% go if you have the opportunity and feel safe about it when it comes around, yeah.
I'm sad I skipped out on the Strings Attached (or w/e that one was called) tour that followed it up but either the timing or the location just wasn't in the cards.

Re: Weird Al
Well, this should definitely turn out better than last time I went to two stops of the same Weird Al tour (Mandatory world tour, which being a big spectacle concert was basically 100% the same both times except the Radio City Music Hall stop he got Lin Manuel Miranda to sing a chorus in the encore), got safety tickets to an earlier show in Connecticut and then managed to snag a ticket to Carnegie Hall as well.
Re: Weird Al
So they're turning this thing into a feature starring Daniel Radcliffe.
‘Weird: The Al Yankovic Story’: Daniel Radcliffe To Portray Grammy Winner In Roku Biopic From Funny Or Die & Tango
‘Weird: The Al Yankovic Story’: Daniel Radcliffe To Portray Grammy Winner In Roku Biopic From Funny Or Die & Tango
The Yankovic biopic promises to hold nothing back and explore every facet of his life, from his childhood through his meteoric rise to fame with early hits like “Eat It” and “Like a Surgeon,” while touching on his torrid celebrity love affairs and famously depraved lifestyle. Yankovic is producing alongside Mike Farah, Joe Farrell and Whitney Hodack for Funny Or Die, and Tim Headington, Lia Buman and Max Silva for Tango. Appel is exec producing with Funny Or Die’s Henry Muñoz III and Tango’s Neil Shah.
“When Weird Al first sat me down against my will and told me his life story, I didn’t believe any of it,” admitted Appel, “but I knew that we had to make a movie about it.”
“When my last movie UHF came out in 1989, I made a solemn vow to my fans that I would release a major motion picture every 33 years, like clockwork. I’m very happy to say we’re on schedule. And I am absolutely thrilled that Daniel Radcliffe will be portraying me in the film,” said Yankovic. “I have no doubt whatsoever that this is the role future generations will remember him for.”
“There clearly aren’t enough biopic movies about famous musicians and we were excited to shine a light on the incredibly true, unexaggerated story of Weird Al,” said Roku’s Head of Original Scripted Programming, Colin Davis. “This is sincerely the ultimate combination of talent, creativity, and friends, coming together to make something genuinely funny and we could not be prouder to call this film a Roku Original.”

Even among celebrities, few go so low as to correct the grammar on signs in Trader Joe's.
Re: Weird Al
Hopefully with Al producing it can be more than the Music Biopic Formula while also not just copying Walk Hard

Re: Weird Al
It is nice that they're giving niche indie actor Daniel Radcliffe his first big shot.
Re: Weird Al
That special was the first time I ever saw Al without the mustache and the glasses. At first I wondered who this guy was and why they kept talking to him.

The rolling around bit towards the end is fantastic.
Re: Weird Al
Haven't had a chance to listen to these yet, but I happened across links to these three Al tribute albums, so I'm gonna link 'em here so I remember them for later:

Huh. Both MC Chris and MC Frontalot on that compilation album. Interesting!
