Hi there!

I can't ever hear this in a random location and not have it stuck in my head for several days afterwards.

The vocals on this are excellent as usual, but it's the backing instrumentals by The Funk Brothers (Motown's house band for many years) on this that always blow me away.

Not so much stuck in my head, but I was listening to some Weird Al and these lines really hit me in a way they haven't previously.

But I know that I'll be coming back some day
I'll be playing this part 'till I'm old and grey

The long-term contract that I had to sign
Says I'll be making these movies till the end of time

I know we live in the timeline of jokes made real, but damn.

Pearl.boot and the two versions of Let Us Adore You are very catchy, but I could listen to these two on loop all day, and have, AND WILL.

I still think Spindel is the missing half of a fully developed Lapis, but her motifs and VA make me really feel for the dork.

Not my favorite song of his, but it's a professional recording from this year's tour:

One from the once and forever king of Skiffle.

(*with thanks to Leadbelly, and in turn to The Memphis Jug Band).

I think over time that's risen to become my favourite Neil Cicirega song.

EDIT: Wait... that video cuts off the entire last third of the song. I'm sure that's intended, but fuck, the ending is where it rockets into the stratosphere of madness! You can't cut that shit off, man!

The original by Huey Smith is pretty great, but Johnny Rivers adds just enough flourish (dat piano omg) to make his version my favourite.

Love that little reminder on the record itself too: Use the Power! ... except this release was in '72, so, sadlol.

It's not uncommon for me to go to bed with a song stuck in my head and then wake up with it still there.

This is one of those songs that sticks with me more for the tune (the vocals are an important part of that, but I wasn't listening particularly closesly), so I only recently realized the song's written to be from the perspective of a soldier stuck in Vietnam.

(K)NOW_NAME - Night Surfing

I liked Dorohedoro's first ending a little more thematically, but this song really grew on me.

A classic in the "trashy but entirely too catchy" category.
