Should just give up and pirate the goddamn thing. Except I don't even feel like playing it at the moment, lol.

God, I forgot Valkyria Chronicles 4 was shackled with Denuvo. Sucks.

Great game, otherwise.

Yeah, I got the PS4 version. Never got around to finishing it but I enjoyed the parts of it I played.

Sega seems like maybe the last holdout on Denuvo? SE doesn't seem to be including it on new releases anymore. Meanwhile, Sega's still got it on everything from Sonic Frontiers to Judgement to fucking Persona 4. Not that I intend to buy Persona 4 a third time anyway.

At least they've taken it off some of the older releases. Yakuza 0 through 6 are Denuvo-free. I've been playing 0 and enjoying it.

Yeah, I've been half-waiting for them to drop the Denuvo, but at this point it's been years, so fucked if I know if they'll ever bother.

Yeah, it's so damn weird.

Sony, meanwhile, has Horizon Zero Dawn out on GOG. A flagship game from a Japanese publisher that isn't historically known for playing nice with PC in the first place, straight-up DRM-free. Can't say I was expecting that.

Having played a lot of Vampire Survivors lately, the Steam store now has "Vampire games" as a category that it recommends for me. So if I wanted Evil West, V Rising, V:tM Bloodlines, Code Vein, or Castlevania Lords of Shadow I can pick them up for cheap, sure okay

but none of them are like Vampire Survivors because a) they're from a bunch of different genres and gameplay styles, none of which are "be-the-bullet-hell" roguelikes where you're up against hordes of mooks, and b) they actually have vampires in them

FWIW Code Vein doesn't have vampires either. They eat "blood cells" which are pinkish meat left behind by the dead, containing all their memories. And if they're killed and have their memories stolen and come back as shambling shells of their former selves, desperate to collect the source of memories of others.

So you know, clearly Frankensteins.

Artifact Adventure Gaiden DX for the Switch appears to be a tongue-in-cheek, semi-fathful-Gameboy-style rpg. Looks like Final Fantasy Legends party comp and world exploration, with two-player compatibile Tales of Phantasia combat. For $5 I will probably get it. And definitely would if I had irl friends.

itch.io has a Trans Witches are Witches bundle in $10 and $60 editions. This one's not for charity like some of the previous itch.io bundles, but it supports LGBTQ+ creators.

And Fanatical has a Killer Bundle $25 that's got some good stuff in it, like River City Girls, Doom 64, Dusk, and both Baldur's Gate EEs.

And now they're doing something called Bundlefest with various different bundles. Some dollar bundles, some BYO bundles, a Star Wars bundle that's got both KotOR games in it, lots of options.

Steam's got a Disney sale on. Includes Lucasarts games and various Star Wars titles, though you might want to check Fanatical's Star Wars bundle first since it's got some of those for cheaper.

I was about to grab the Lion King/Aladdin bundle for $5 but there are reviews from the past hour saying it...doesn't actually include Aladdin and you have to buy it separately as DLC? That seems bad.

From what I've read the Genesis version of Aladdin is in it, the SNES version is the expansion pack.

Figment is free to keep on Steam and GOG (with the usual newsletter signup requirement on the latter). Offer ends when Figment 2 comes out on the 9th.

If you've been considering getting a Deck, all models are currently 10% off.

As usual my attitude tends toward "I have way too many games already and they do one of these like every couple of months so there's no hurry," but there are certainly a few right now that are tempting.

Terraria 50% off
Black Mesa 50% off
Anodyne 2 60% off
Dwarf Fortress 10% off
Symphony of War 33% off
New Vegas 75% off
Elite Dangerous 75% off
No Man's Sky 50% off
NGPC Selection vol 1 50% off
Atari 50 10% off

GOG's got a sale on too, and they're going to have a series of freebies. Usual restrictions; GOG account and newsletter signup required; first free game is Lorelai.

Hey, Mario Odyssey is on sale for $40, in case you're a weirdo like me who owns a Switch but somehow doesn't own it already.

Course, I want a physical copy, and you need to spend at least $50 to get free shipping. That's how they getcha!

Trying to decide whether to throw something else in there, and if so, what. I already have Mario Kart 8, and I have 3D World and New SMB U on the Wii U. I could get Mario Maker 2 but don't know how much time I'd actually spend with it; if I got Metroid Prime Remastered I'm sure I'd play it but it's not on sale so I'd be paying full price instead of taking advantage of another deal.

I guess I've got another week to think about it before the sale ends.

Oh boy! The Blizzard Arcade Collection! That's where I'm a viking!

It's currently on sale for $10 and I'm tempted to grab it.

But then I have to decide whether to go with the Switch version or the PC version. In general I prefer PC these days, but I'm leery of fucking around with non-Steam games on the Deck.
