hahaha oh man i bet thats going to go really well for them
Re: Game musings and news
To be fair, it was allegedly the plan the entire time, they didn't enact it early on because they were too busy keeping the servers on at all. On the other hand... They also sold it in countries where PSN is unavailable. In the less than a week since the announcement, Steam reviews all time are now 'mixed'; and Steam has been refunding people - even with 100+ hours of playtime - who have adequately justified it. It's impressive how Sony managed to flush seven years of work (and months of goodwill, people talking 'is it GOTY?') down the toilet.
Edit: Aaaaand Sony blinked.

Re: Game musings and news
I was going to post a couple of charts about review scores, steam refunds, territories where PSN isn't available, and dev communication indicating they might go rogue wrt the requirement, but then Sony realized they fucked up.
How fleeting are all human passions compared with the massive continuity of ducks.
Re: Game musings and news
They still need to undo the 'take the game off of sale in regions where PSN isn't available' but other than that it appears to all be fixed.

Steam giving them hell for hundreds of thousands of dollar in returns which probably had to all be manually approved (considering many were well into triple-digits of hours played) may or may not have also had an effect.
