Re: #Tell Friday
holy shit that last one
Re: #Tell Friday
I don't have a meme but I do want to to #tellFriday "Hi"
Re: #Tell Friday
hey lottel how are you
I'm good
It turns out that not using the internet to waste time looking at memes and stupid videos means you go through just an absolutely tremendous amount of tv shows that you've been meaning to watch
also still plugging away at Elden Ring
this might be the slowest playthrough of all time, ngl lie
I'm already 100+ hours and I have whole zones left to explore
meanwhile I see people saying the game took them "forever" to beat at 80 hours
like do you guys not obsessively ride back and forth over every inch of the map
My friends have all beaten the game and are impatiently awaiting me to get to the endgame to see if I'll be forced to "cheese" it with stupidly overpowered builds/weapon arts like I guess everyone else on the internet has done because the endgame bosses are just nearly impossible if fought fairly
My honor is on the line guys what should I do
I guess we'll find out roughly 100 hours of playtime from now
p.s. I'm going to marry Blaidd and no you can't stop me he even made a better ff7 joke than lee-ham
what was it you ask
well you see I asked him "hey Blaidd, what's it like being a half-man, half-wolf" and he said "about Red seven and a half"
I just made that up right now as I was writing that sentence

NOPE!
My first playthrough is at 200+ hours already and there's at least two zones I know of that I haven't even entered yet, one zone I've only poked my head into, and two zones with large swaths that I haven't been able to access yet.
That's what I get for "try not to use guides" and "don't leave an area until I've grabbed every item I can see."

Man, if I don't get at least 100 hours out of a game I feel kinda let down (unless it's something exceptional, like Undertale). I just play fewer games, longer, in general.

ok i'm impressed that's a long fucking time
I too am playing guideless and I know I'm missing tons of stuff. Especially from the NPC questlines. It bothers me on a level I can't even begin to explain but the alternative (looking shit up) is even worse. I guess I'll do a wiki-guided NG+ run and see all the shit I missed after I beat it.

I sort of am with you, I always feel let down if it's a short game I enjoyed. Undertale being the notable exception in two ways, where I intentionally did not do all the content. I guess Deltarune counts now also. Think Genocide was bad?
In any case, Elden Ring does not have this problem at all unless you 420 blaze your way straight to the end using whatever broken bullshit set up, bugged or otherwise. My friends tell me the most recent patch nerfed/fixed a bunch of the popular ones, but people have already found new, even more insanely overpowered shit anyway. I was shown a video in which a guy using some sort of weird combo with a special parry and a specific magic spell would one-hit basically anything, including players. And it's bugged so the other player can't even see it.
Re: #Tell Friday
I just named a pet dog Blaidd in Minecraft. Weird co-wink-i-dink.
Placeholder for something witty that doesn't make me sound like an asshole

That's how I've been playing for the last few years (the two games I spent most of '21 on were Persona 5 and Yakuza: Like a Dragon) but I've been playing shorter games recently and there's a sense of satisfaction to actually finishing things. I've already finished FF7R and Guardians of the Galaxy over the past couple of months, and I enjoyed them immensely. Working my way through Spider-Man: Miles Morales and I expect that's going to be a short one too. (I also finished Batman: Arkham Origins, but I played through most of it years ago and it turned out I left off right at the end of the game.)
Not to say I haven't started any massively long games in the meantime, though. I've started Dragon Quest 11, Death Stranding, and Horizon Zero Dawn in the last few months.

Re: #Tell Friday
Yeah, I don't personally have anything against good short games, I just don't end up playing them much.
I think at least part of this is the degree to which I like to mod games, and you don't usually bother modding a game you only play for 10, 20, 40 hours.
