Hottest Disney Song!!! (Write Ins)
Remember when I said that "Hottest Movie" was the brobdingnagian leagues
hahaha yeah no
want to really hate each other? Then look no further!
Rules: The song must originate from an "animated" (hand drawn or CG) theatrically released Disney film. No direct to video stuff, regardless of how good the song is. I may make an exception to this rule if a really well known song is put forward, though, at my discretion. Only the original song will be considered in this tournament, any remixes or other performances are not allowed.
There is no limit to how many songs can be from a single movie, however, we don't need to put every single fucking Disney song ever into this poll. That being said, I will put in any that anyone cares enough to mention.
Let's get some of the obvious ones out of the way
1. Be Prepared (Lion King)
2. Hellfire (Hunchback of Notre Dame)
3. Gaston (Beauty and the Beast)
4. Be Our Guest (Beauty and the Beast)
5. Under the Sea (The Little Mermaid)
6. Poor Unfortunate Souls (The Little Mermaid)
7. Hakuna Matata (Lion King)
8. Circle of Life (Lion King)
9. A Whole New World (Aladdin)
10. Friend Like Me (Aladdin)
11. Wanna Be Like You (Jungle Book)
12. Colors of the Wind (Pocahontas)
13. Heigh Ho (Snow White)
14. Prince Ali (Aladdin)
15. I'll Make A Man Out Of You (Mulan)
16. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious (Mary Poppins) (Exception because it's an animated sequence and also fuck you, it's Mary Poppins)
17. When I See An Elephant Fly (Dumbo)
18. One Jump Ahead (Aladdin)
19. Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride (Lilo and Stitch)
20. He's a Tramp (Lady and the Tramp)
21. You're Welcome (Moana)
22. Part of Your World (The Little Mermaid)
ok I'm sure you guys are gonna have a ton, so have at it!

Great idea!
Kiss the Girl (The Little Mermaid)
Belle (Beauty and the Beast)
Jack's Lament (The Nightmare Before Christmas)
What's This? (The Nightmare Before Christmas)
Jack's Obsession (The Nightmare Before Christmas)
Kidnap the Sandy Claws (The Nightmare Before Christmas)
Oogie Boogie's Song (The Nightmare Before Christmas)
Sally's Song (The Nightmare Before Christmas)
Friends on the Other Side (The Princess and the Frog)
How Far I'll Go (Moana)
Shiny (Moana)
Believe it or not, this is me showing restraint with Nightmare.

Re: Hottest Disney Song!!! (Write Ins)
Steamboat Willie (Steamboat Willie)
When You Wish Upon A Star (Pinocchio)
Passamashloddy (Pete's Dragon)
Every Little Piece [Money by the Pound] (Pete's Dragon)
Candle On The Water (Pete's Dragon)
Caucus Race (Alice in Wonderland)
The Unbirthday Song (Alice in Wonderland)
Bare Necessities (The Jungle Book)
Everybody Wants to be A Cat (The Aristocats)
Whistle Stop (Robin Hood)
Not in Nottingham (Robin Hood)
The Phoney King of England (Robin Hood)
Baby Mine (Dumbo) ;__;
Pink Elephants on Parade (Dumbo)
Cruella De Ville (101 Dalmatians)
Bibbity Bobbity Boo (Cinderella)
Stick-to-it-ivity (So Dear to My Heart)
Had to keep it to only three Pete's Dragon songs, which I personally think are amazing gems (the movie itself is mediocre at best, but man, the songs!), but that's of course coloured by childhood nostalgia. I hope it can be allowed to count in spite of only Pete being animated?
If you decide to allow a few non-film exceptions, I would obviously also suggest the Ducktales Theme song, I MEAN, COME ON.

Re: Hottest Disney Song!!! (Write Ins)
I kind of want to also suggest that even if you decide to do a threshing round where large numbers of songs are eliminated, that links still be posted to each song. But that adds a not-insignificant amount of work, so I dunno.
Re: Hottest Disney Song!!! (Write Ins)
Every song will be linked. Depending on how many songs I end up with, I might have like, batches of 8 with only the top 2 winners moving on or something like that, to get it down to a more manageable size.

To Die For (Lion King)
He Lives In You (Lion King 2 - putting this here cause it *does* appear in the musical and it's fuckign amazign)
*inhale*
LET IT GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Something from Black Panther, because it's technically Disney and Marvel movies are so CGI-filled it's essentially animated.

Re: Hottest Disney Song!!! (Write Ins)
I know some of these songs are absurdly racist, especially many of the older ones, but I was listening to Everybody Wants to be A Cat just now and whooo lordy I had forgotten how retroactively cringeworthy the Siamese cat's section of that song is. xD
Re: Hottest Disney Song!!! (Write Ins)
Okay, it's time to be a killjoy, as much as I hate being a killjoy.
I'm not going to allow anything outside of this definition:
That means no Pete the Dragon, no Black Panther, no Lion King 2 it was also in a musical, no Duck Tales, and it even means no Night On Bald Mountain, which I myself put in because I love it. Nightmare Before Christmas is close enough to the definition of animated to count.
See, as soon as I make an exception for one person (other than Mary fuckin' Poppins) I have to start letting people put whatever the fuck they want in here. I don't even care that much for the most part because most of "I saw this when I was a child" gets bodied by the brobdingnagian boys in round 1-2 anyway, but what about Mega Bruiser Duck Tales? That shit is a legit contender for the final winner.
Sorry. I hate having to do this but there's a reason I am doing it. I've had people ask for Stage Themes in Boss Theme contests and even then I felt bad about saying no. But I gotta draw the line somewhere. So long, Chernabog.

Nah, it's fine. The one I'm rooting for for top spot is one you already listed anyway.
But, for posterity's sake, here's the three from my list to be cut.
Like I said, Pete's Dragon is mediocre at best, with a preachy temperance subplot and mostly bland or unlikable characters.
But Jim Dale and Red Buttons as the snake oil salesman Doc Terminus and his henchman Hoagy are enormously entertaining and simultaneously save and steal the movie.
Money By The Pound is particularly interesting given the incredibly dark lyrics over seemingly lighthearted music (a theme also present in the earlier song 'Happiest Home In These Hills'... someone was sneaking some grim fuckin' shit in this movie!).
And just a fantastic Helen Reddy ballad. Beautiful voice here.

Les Poissons (The Little Mermaid) -- I mean obviously this might not be a brobdingnagian contender for a lot of people, but I worked a seafood counter for four years. This got a lot of play. From my mouth. During basically every shift I was filleting stuff by myself.
The Elegant Captain Hook (Peter Pan) -- i fuckin love captain hook
Kanine Krunchies (101 Dalmatians) -- because after having not seen this movie since i was a kid the lady randomly bust this out one night
in the same exact terrible cutesy tone and wrenched it out of the depths of my memory and it's lived in me ever since
Oo-De-Lally (Robin Hood) -- fucking earworm
Winnie the Pooh (The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh) -- speaking of
The World's Greatest Criminal Mind (The Great Mouse Detective) -- Are you guys really going to disrespect Doom by not including this?
After Today, Stand Out, and On The Open Road (A Goofy Movie) -- A Goofy Movie has gotten its due a lot more these days, BUT STILL NOT ENOUGH
Zero to Hero (Hercules) -- Maybe my favorite Disney song to listen to in Japanese?
Mother Knows Best (Tangled) -- Maybe the best "parental emotional abuse through song" in the Disney canon?
Sugar Rush (Wreck-it Ralph) -- S U G A R JUMP INTO YOUR RACING CAR
Love is an Open Door (Frozen) -- I mean, nothing beats Adele Dazeem from this movie but Love is an Open Door is a catchy tune and also legitimately brilliant in how it puts the romantic song where the villain song usually goes in the runtime of a Disney film to kinda throw you off guard even if you don't really know why?

I wonder if Rene Auberjonois has gotten sick of singing that song at Star Trek conventions.

There was a theatrically-released DuckTales film.

Okay, so how about songs that are technically from the soundtrack of an animated, theatrically-released Disney film, songs which were fully produced and performed, but, for whatever reason (let's say... because the film itself was scrapped and rewritten from the ground up?), did not make it into the film proper?
I guess what I'm asking is, can I nominate Snuff Out The Light?

I don't remember.
...Wikipedia says it was in the closing credits.
Re: Hottest Disney Song!!! (Write Ins)
Okay, I don't need to be a dick about this
BUT I'M GONNA
originate means originally from a movie. So a song from a show that got turned into a movie is a no.
Anyway, I'll tell you what. I'll have a FINAL BOUT between Duck Tales and whatever ends up winning, as an exhibition match at the end.
